Welcome to another Q&A session where I answer questions from y'all on the internet.
Today's question is:
So when we set our shower bases, we set them down in concrete and then we do extensive waterproofing before we install anything. What this looks like is either a concrete cement board...... or a Wedi board, whatever system the customer really prefers. It's not necessarily up to us. It's what the customer wants.
But after we do that, we seam tape every single joint. Once those are all seam taped, we use the recommended waterproof sealant for the system that we chose, whether it's a Wedi system, a Hardie Board, we use Red Guard. There's a few different other types of waterproofing, but we usually stick to the Wedi and the Red Guard.
When asked about their process for waterproofing shower pans before tiling. Kolten Redfield described that shower bases are set in concrete, followed by extensive waterproofing using materials like concrete cement board or wetty board, with all joints seam-taped and sealed with recommended waterproof sealants like Red Guard.
