Hey folks! This is Kolten from Next Gen Remodels.

Welcome to another Q&A session where I answer questions from y'all on the internet.

Today's question is:

"What Type of Lumber Do You Use for Deck Building?"

"What Type of Lumber Do You Use for Deck Building?"

Answer from Kolten

Whether it's composite, wood, or anything, with all decks that are exterior and exposed to the weather, we require pressure-treated wood by code. There is no give on that. I will not install a deck for you if you have regular interior lumber. It is pressure-treated only. Otherwise, we're gonna be coming back out in the next, you know, couple years to fix the rotted boards that we failed to install properly because they're not pressure-treated.

Only pressure-treated boards exterior, and that's for all exterior work.

Short Summary

When inquired about the type of framing or lumber used under composite decking. Kolten Redfield emphasized that for all exterior decks exposed to weather, pressure-treated wood is required by code, and they will not install a deck with regular interior lumber due to the risk of rotting boards.
