Today's question is:
Kolten describes a hybrid approach to staffing projects. Next Gen Remodel employs in-house crew members on payroll who work standard full-time weeks and handle whatever the company needs across a project. Alongside them, the company relies on a small, fixed roster of specialty subcontractors, the only subcontractors they use. These partners have worked with Next Gen since the beginning and operate under formal legal agreements requiring work to meet the company's standards. Because of that consistency and accountability, Kolten says they perform reliably with no issues, which is why the relationships have lasted. The result is a single coordinated team, in-house staff plus trusted specialists, that can carry a project through every phase while maintaining consistent quality from demo through the finish.
We do a little bit of both. We have guys that work for Next Gen in-house, on payroll. They average a regular forty-hour week for us, and whatever we need them to go do, they take care of and handle. But we also work with specialty subcontractors. The difference is, these are the only subcontractors we work with. These are guys we've been with from day one. They're under agreement with us, we all have a legal agreement, on documentation, that states things have to be done up to our standards. And they perform every time. We have no issues, and that's why we've been using them since day one. So we have a combination of guys in-house who can take care of everything, as well as some specialty guys who can come out and really get the job done when we need to call somebody else. That combination is what lets us keep control of quality across every phase, from demo and framing all the way through to the finish work.
